Mission
Women in Foreign Affairs is an organization that works to promote the role of women in various international fields, such as diplomacy, international business, defense/military, global activism, NGOs, and other international organizations. Women in Foreign Affairs hosts guest speakers to share their personal experiences in these areas. Speakers are invited to assist and advise women who are currently pursuing or are interested in having a career or internship in any of the fields mentioned above, or are looking to expand their knowledge in Foreign Affairs. Women in Foreign Affairs also facilitates discussion about why women have a more difficult time succeeding in these fields, hosts various social events, and provides community service opportunities for members to enrich their university experience and expand their network.
History
Women in Foreign Affairs officially became an organization at the beginning of the Spring 2013 semester. The first officers were Shelley Hernandez, Keila Luna, Diana Pop, Yashera Marie, Dylan Carroll, and Stephanie Yarborough. Since then, we have expanded our officer roles and added new positions, and hope that the organization continues to grow and assist international-minded women in achieving their goals.
Past Presidents include Diana Pop, Marie Sells, Devon Hsiao, and Megan Soetaert. Thank you for your leadership, ladies!
